Hello and welcome to Acadia by Carriage and Wildwood Stables in Acadia National Park

Acadia by Carriage provides one- and two-hour horse drawn carriage tours in Acadia National Park. We are busy planning the carriage tour schedules for the 2025 season. We will have carriage tour reservations available online as soon as we finalize all the details. The 2025 season will run from Saturday, May 24th through Wednesday, October 15th, 2025 for carriage tours, stall rentals and equestrian camping.

Horse stall and Equestrian campsite reservations will begin online Thursday, January 2nd.

All of our carriage tours depart from Wildwood Stables, just off the Park Loop Road. The Island Explorer Bus (4 Loop Road) stops at Wildwood.

Day Mountain carriage road is one of the last to be built in the system. Day Mountain was part of the Rockefeller Estate before it became part of Acadia National Park. This tour traverses through dense forests with ocean overlooks and distant views of Schoodic Peninsula and the Cranberry Isles.

This fully-narrated tour takes you under and over some of the most remarkable bridgework in America. At Cobblestone Bridge, the first of Rockefeller’s bridges built in 1917, passengers may disembark the carriage and explore the craftsmanship and surrounding nature.

Day Mountain is the only mountain in the carriage road system with a carriage road to the summit. Once daily, this tour takes you to the top of Day Mountain for spectacular views of Mount Desert Island’s mountains, the seacoast, the Cranberry Isles, Schoodic Peninsula, and Isle au Haut.

Acadia by Carriage is pleased to welcome people of all abilities to enjoy a carriage ride in Acadia National Park. Thanks to a generous gift from the Diana Davis Spencer Foundation to Friends of Acadia, we have a wheelchair accessible carriage that can comfortably accommodate one passenger in a wheelchair and two to three additional passengers. The floor space in the wheelchair carriage is 33″ x 56″. To make a reservation for a tour using this carriage, call or e-mail us.

Refund Policy for Carriage Tours Tours may be canceled up to 24 hours before the scheduled departure time for a full refund. Cancellations made within 24 hours of the scheduled departure time will not be refunded.

Rain cancellations accepted at the time of departure of the scheduled tour.
